Oyefunmilayo Amoda, a talented Nigerian scholar, has made headlines by winning a fully funded PhD scholarship at Oregon State University, USA, without a master’s degree. Her academic journey began at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, where she earned a National Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics. In 2022, she graduated with First-Class Honors from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), achieving an impressive 4.67 CGPA out of 5.00.
Amoda’s dedication to her studies set her apart. Starting with a GPA of 4.18, she remained focused and worked diligently, ultimately emerging as the best graduating student in her department. Despite facing personal challenges, including the loss of her father, Amoda expressed gratitude towards her brother, who sponsored her education, and her supportive lecturers and family members.

In addition to her studies, Amoda will serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, enhancing her academic and professional experience. She was also awarded the prestigious Provost Distinguished Scholarship, reserved for students with exceptional academic achievements and research capabilities.
Amoda plans to focus her research on the epidemiological roles of nutritional factors in cancer development and aims to contribute significantly to global research in nutrition and public health. Through her journey, she hopes to inspire other aspiring scholars, encouraging them to remain determined, seek opportunities, and believe in the power of hard work and resilience.
