Nigerian Law Graduate Emerges Best Student After 7-Year Journey

Despite a two-year delay caused by strikes and the pandemic, Aisha Suleiman Muhammed graduated with a first-class Law degree from the University of Jos, emerging as the best graduating student and inspiring others with her resilience and determination.

Aisha Suleiman Muhammed, a brilliant Nigerian student, has graduated with a first-class Law degree (LL.B) from the University of Jos, earning recognition as the overall best graduating student in her faculty. Her achievement is especially inspiring as she completed her degree in seven years instead of the usual five.

A Journey of Resilience

Aisha began her Law program in 2019, expecting to graduate in 2023. However, her academic path was prolonged due to multiple setbacks, including long-term academic union strikes and the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted Nigeria’s educational system.

“My LL.B journey was supposed to be a five-year adventure, but it turned into a seven-year marathon!” — Aisha shared on LinkedIn.

Despite the delays, Aisha remained focused. She adapted by engaging in virtual learning, self-study, and staying motivated throughout the uncertainty.

Excellence Against the Odds

Her dedication paid off when she graduated with first-class honors and was named the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Law. She reflected on the experience with gratitude and pride.

“This journey taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, perseverance, and the importance of community. I’m proud to have navigated these challenges and emerged stronger, more determined, and ready for the next chapter.”

“The road was long and winding, but the sense of accomplishment I feel today makes it all worth it.”

Looking Ahead

Now aiming to further her legal education and impact the legal field, Aisha hopes her story encourages others facing academic delays to keep pushing forward.
