A Nigerian man identified as Kolawole Babatayo celebrates his late mother who sold her Wrappers to see him through school as he earn three degrees and a PhD.
Kolawole Babatayo, a determined Nigerian, has defied the odds to achieve academic success, earning a bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees, and a PhD in Accounting.

Dr. Kolawole recently attained his doctorate in Accounting from Babcock University, Nigeria, reflecting on his arduous path to academic achievement on Linkedin.
He recounted the sacrifices made by his mother, who sold her clothes to fund his education, including his West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees in 1997.
Starting his tertiary education at the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti, Dr. Kolawole obtained a higher diploma in Accounting and Finance before pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of Benin.
He continued his academic journey by earning a master’s degree in Accounting at the University of Lagos and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Accounting at Babcock University before attaining his Doctorate.
In addition to his impressive academic qualifications, Dr. Kolawole is a Fellowed Chartered Accountant, further underscoring his expertise and dedication to his field.
Dr. Kolawole’s achievement holds profound significance for him, considering the challenges he faced three decades ago when he was asked to drop out of secondary school for no justifiable reason.
Despite encountering ridicule, shame, and stigmatization among his peers, he persevered, supported by the sacrifices of his elder siblings.
Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Kolawole expressed gratitude for fulfilling the promise he made to his mother, who unfortunately passed away before witnessing his academic success.
He paid tribute to her unwavering support and sacrifice, acknowledging the profound impact of her determination and love on his journey.
As Dr. Kolawole celebrates his remarkable achievement, he serves as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges, demonstrating the transformative power of perseverance, resilience, and dedication to one’s dreams.
His story is a reminder that with determination and hard work, anything is possible, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
”Maami Aduke……I remembered how you were forced to trade off your clothes when you were unable to pay back the loan you took to pay my WAEC fee in the year 1997,” he said.
”Your SON has now been officially hooded and conferred with a Doctorate Degree in Accounting. Unfortunately, the cold hand of death didn’t allow you to witness this day. Continue to Rest in Peace Maami ADUKE…. TEARS! TEARS!! TEARS!!!,” he said.
