Nigerian Man Graduates with 4.71 CGPA in Mechanical Engineering, Aspires to Innovate in Aerospace and Robotics

Abdur-Razaq Sayfullah Adebola, a determined Nigerian graduate, earned a 4.71 CGPA in Mechanical Engineering from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), overcoming early academic setbacks through strategic learning, mentorship, and hands-on experience, and now aspires to advance in Aerospace, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering.

A brilliant Nigerian graduate, Abdur-Razaq Sayfullah Adebola, has emerged as one of the top students at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), earning a remarkable 4.71/5.00 CGPA in Mechanical Engineering and securing the second-best graduating student award in his department.

Sayfullah’s academic journey was marked by perseverance, strategic planning, and unwavering determination. Despite starting with a CGPA of 3.86 in his first semester due to an “E” in a challenging four-unit course, he refused to be discouraged. Instead, he re-strategized and committed to a disciplined study approach, leading to a perfect 5.00 GPA in his second semester and a CGPA boost to 4.43.

His dedication paid off in his 200-level year when he achieved 13 A’s and one B across 14 courses, resulting in a 4.97 GPA and further raising his CGPA to 4.63. Maintaining his First-Class status through rigorous study and discipline, he ultimately graduated with a 4.71 CGPA.

Sayfullah credited his academic excellence to three key principles:

1. Mastering the syllabus – ensuring a deep understanding of coursework.

2. Understanding exam expectations – solving past questions, seeking clarification, and listening to lecturers’ cues.

3. Relentless effort and determination – tackling challenges head-on without excuses.

Beyond academics, Sayfullah dedicated himself to mentoring others. From his 200-level to final year, he conducted tutorials for junior colleagues, reinforcing his own knowledge while helping others excel.

His pursuit of knowledge extended beyond the classroom. He developed intermediate proficiency in the Chinese language and earned a certificate in Python programming, aligning with his passion for technology and innovation.

Sayfullah actively sought practical experience through internships, including a stint at Geoplex Drillteq Limited (Port Harcourt), where he gained hands-on training in:

Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE)

Safety protocols

Wireline and slackline operations

Logistics management

He also honed his skills in 3D CAD design and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using advanced tools such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, and STAR-CCM+. His final-year project, Simulation of Heat Transfer in a Channel Using Sinusoidal Wire Insert, showcased his expertise in engineering simulations.

Sayfullah aims to further his studies in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics, with a vision to develop scalable solutions that contribute to global technological advancements.

Guided by his personal mantra, “No excuses, just results,” he remains committed to excellence, innovation, and continuous learning as he embarks on the next phase of his journey.
