Nigerian Who Took WASSCE 17 Times Receives Prestigious Award in U.S.

Dr. Emmanuel Ahmadu, a Nigerian man who attempted the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 17 times, received several prestigious awards in the U.S. for his contributions to mental health advocacy and leadership.

Dr. Emmanuel Ahmadu, a Nigerian who attempted the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 17 times, was honored with an award in the U.S. on August 3.

Ahmadu informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday that he was recognized as a Global Mental Health Advocate by Marquis Who’s Who 2024 in America.

On June 8, Ahmadu received an honorary Doctorate Degree in International Affairs (DIA) from Global Seminary University, New York, in collaboration with GEPEA University, Portugal. This prestigious award acknowledged his significant contributions to promoting peace, sustainable mental wellness, and hope globally.

Additionally, Ahmadu was honored as a Professional Doctoral Fellow by The Across Global Institute of Foreign Languages (AGIFL) for his outstanding leadership and global achievements in mental healthcare.

According to Ahmadu, this honor places him among notable past honorees such as President Joe Biden, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Gates.

Ahmadu highlighted that his recognition as a 2024 honoree of Marquis Who’s Who in America reflects his dedication to mental health advocacy and his global influence in promoting mental well-being.

“My recognition as a 2024 listee of Marquis Who’s Who in America is a testament to my unwavering commitment to mental health advocacy and global influence in promoting mental well-being. This honor underscores my exceptional contributions and serves as an inspiration to countless individuals worldwide who are struggling with hopelessness, depression, and suicidal thoughts. My journey from being a victim of mental trauma to becoming a global champion is a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of resilience and determination. Known for highlighting achievements of distinguished individuals worldwide for over 120 years, Marquis Who’s Who has acknowledged my remarkable story and global influence in mental health advocacy,” Ahmadu said.

Ahmadu recounted his challenging educational background, which included attending 16 primary schools and 14 secondary schools due to family instability, and sitting for his O’Level examinations 17 times over five years. Despite these challenges, he graduated with a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Benin, where he excelled as an extraordinary student, representing the university and the country in several national and international awards.

He was also honored with a Professional Doctoral Fellowship from the Across Global Institute of Foreign Languages. On July 27, he received recognition from Black Leaders Worldwide™️ on LinkedIn, an organization celebrating distinguished black leaders globally, with the acknowledgment shared by the organization’s founder, Germaine Moody.

Ahmadu also completed the year-long Hiram Civility Leadership Institute training in partnership with Renew America Together in Little Rock, Arkansas, receiving a distinguished award for his achievements.

Reflecting on his journey, Ahmadu expressed gratitude for his transformative story and the role of divine intervention. He emphasized the importance of perseverance, faith, and surrounding oneself with purpose-driven and self-motivated individuals who played significant roles in his academic and professional success.
