The Federal University of Education, Zaria has today held its matriculating ceremony for the newly admitted students of the NCE Part-Time programme for the 2024/2025 academic session.


The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Suleiman Balarabe declared the ceremony open, congratulating the new students, adding that they should consider themselves lucky for being admitted to study in the institution.
“Therefore, you should consider yourselves lucky for gaining admission into this University of Education, since many had applied but few were admitted. Therefore, accept my sincere congratulations for getting this golden opportunity. He said.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor called on the matriculating students to abide by all the rules and regulations of the University as enshrined in the students’ handbook, while calling on them to be of good moral conduct, and shun all forms of social vices.
“As such, this University frowns at any form of anti-social behavior, especially examination malpractice, indecent dressing, narcotic intake, gay, lesbianism, cultism, stealing etc. You are expected to behave honorably and responsibly both within and outside the University.”
“You are advised to shun violence and criminality of any kind. Be mindful of the person you interact with and be security vigilant to ensure your safety. Ensure 75% attendance as it is a prerequisite for sitting for examination and avoid examination malpractice. Thus, we urge you to devote your time, energy and commitment to studying your books to learn as fast as possible to become great teachers.”
“Our expectation is that you would graduate as teachers versed in best teaching techniques and conversant with fundamentals of education that would enhance your proficiencies and knowledge in education delivery.” Said Dr. Balarabe.
Dr. Balarabe added that “As a reputed teacher training institution, students must be reminded of the need to watch their moral and social behaviors from day one. The purpose of Teacher Training College like this one is to prepare fully qualified professional teachers who will later in life help prepare their own students not only to learn and pass examination, but to live respectable and acceptable lives in their communities. It is for this reason that NCE is awarded not only for passing examination, but additionally for good behavior and exemplary conduct.”
He also urged them to build and maintain cordial relationship with the members of their host communities, respect their norms and traditions. The matriculation oath was administered to the students by the Oath Commissioner, Barr. Maryam Halidu.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor thanked the members of the matriculation committee, and thanked all those that have graced the occasion.
The matriculation ceremony was attended by principal officers of the University, Deans of Schools, Heads of Departments, Directors, Heads of Units, staff members and parents of the matriculating students.
