NYSC sanctions 35 Corps members with extension, repeat of service year

Cursory: In Bayelsa State, 35 Corps members from the 2023 Batch A, Stream II faced sanctions from NYSC for violating service rules. However, NYSC discharged and issued certificates to 1,075 Corps members who completed their service meritoriously. State Coordinator Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity praised their contributions and encouraged skill utilization for self-reliance. She thanked employers, traditional rulers, and host communities for their support.

In Bayelsa State, thirty-five Corps members from the 2023 Batch A, Stream II service year faced sanctions from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for violating the service code. Among them, twenty-one had their service extended, while fourteen were required to repeat their service year.

However, amidst the disciplinary actions, the NYSC discharged and issued certificates of national service to a total of one thousand, seventy-five Corps members who completed their service year meritoriously.

During a low-key presentation ceremony, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, congratulated the Corps members for successfully completing their service. She praised their contributions to the state and acknowledged the support of employers, traditional rulers, and host communities.

Several Corps members received certificates of commendation for their exceptional service. Mrs. Charity encouraged those who participated in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training programs to utilize their skills for self-reliance and job creation.

She expressed gratitude to NYSC staff for their guidance and supervision throughout the service year. As the discharged Corps members embark on their future endeavors, Mrs. Charity wished them success and urged them to make the most of their acquired skills for personal and societal advancement.
