Ogun Governor Rewards Top Polytechnic Graduates with N2.5 Million Each

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun awarded N2.5 million each to three outstanding graduates of Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to academic excellence, while the institution’s rector highlighted progress since its 2023 upgrade and called for further government support.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has awarded N2.5 million to three outstanding graduates of the Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, Ilese-Ijebu, in recognition of their academic achievements.

The announcement was made during the institution’s third combined convocation ceremony on Thursday, where the governor urged graduates to leverage their knowledge in transforming the state’s health sector. Representing the governor, Special Adviser on Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to promoting academic excellence.

The recipients of the award included:

Famuyewa Aminat (Dental Technology) – CGPA 3.75 (2021/2022 session)

Rasak Temilola (Health Information Management) – CGPA 3.68 (2022/2023 session)

Kanyinsola Salami (Environmental Health Technology) – CGPA 3.94 (2023/2024 session, best overall graduate)

Salami was also recognized as the overall best-graduating student across the three academic sessions.

Governor Abiodun reiterated that his administration remains committed to fostering a strong educational foundation, ensuring that Ogun State remains a leader in academic excellence. He emphasized that education is the backbone of any progressive society and pledged continued investment in learning resources.

Speaking at the ceremony, the institution’s Rector, Dr. Rasaki Akinbo, outlined the progress made since the polytechnic’s upgrade in 2023. He highlighted key achievements, including:

• Accreditation of 11 new programs

• Re-accreditation of five existing courses

• Completion of key infrastructure projects, such as the Medical Laboratory Technician and Health Information Management buildings

• Renovation of hostels and enhancement of the ICT center

Dr. Akinbo expressed gratitude to the state government for its continued support but called for further intervention in infrastructure, particularly the tarring of internal roads and increased funding to sustain the institution’s growth.

The Chairman of the Polytechnic’s Governing Council, Kunle Kakejaiye, also commended the administration’s commitment to education while urging the government to provide additional resources to enhance learning facilities and overall institutional development.
