Ogun Rewards OGITECH Best Graduating Students With Automatic Employment

The government of Ogun State has rewarded the two best graduating students of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), with immediate employment.

The students, Lawal David and Emmanuel Ogunleye, both emerged as the best overall graduating students both being the first graduating students in the history of the institute to emerge with distinctions in their respective courses.

Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State governor disclosed this during the 4th convocation ceremony and conferment of the institute’s Fellowship Award programme of the school for the 2019/2020 academic session held at Igbesa.

This is really a kind gesture from the Governor and this will go a long way in encouraging other students and disabusing their minds from the fact that education and students are not considered or taken greatly.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbagbu, pledged his administration’s commitment to educational development through the provision of conducive environment, adequate facilities and funds for teaching and learning to thrive.

He urged the graduates to think out of the box and not add to the growing rate of unemployment in the country and had thus enjoined them to see the academic awards as a starting point.

He charged the graduates to be creative and think of whatever they could do to be employers of labour.

The Governor speaking further, acknowledged the steady growth and development of the Institute as he pointed out that the school has grown to define the state’s renowned academic excellence, integrity and honour.

He applauded the school for being economical with its internally-generated revenue. He thereby promised that the state government would continue to support the institution for the greater growth of all the stakeholders and promote excellence among the students.

The rector of the institute, Dr Olufunke Akinkurolere in her address mentioned that the programme and courses available in the school were designed in such a way that industries around them could provide employment opportunities for the graduates.
