A few months after winning the Samantha Singh Memorial Award, Oluwadamilola Akintewe became the only Nigerian among the top 10 finalists of the first Global Student Awards, making the country proud.

She tells ENIOLA OYEMOLADE how her journey has been so far.
You are the only Nigerian in the top 10 finalists for the first Global Student Awards. How does this make you feel?
It is surreal to be the only Nigerian among the top 10 finalists. When it was announced, I was excited everywhere.
You are a law student and your CGPA is 4.3, which is among the best in the class. Even if you apply for awards and competitions, how can you continue to maintain academic excellence?
Balance is the key. To some extent, I have been able to balance my schedule at school and running social projects. In difficult days, I have an excellent team and my sisters who continue to inspire me.
You are receiving a scholarship provided by a national organization. How did this happen?
After graduating from high school, the Nigeria Zenith Club came to my school and asked the school to nominate students for interviews. I am part of the nominee. I participated in an interview centered on my academic and social status. I ended up being one of the two selected students in Ondo East and West. This provided me with a scholarship to pay for my undergraduate law studies.
