According to the video’s caption, the third-year student at Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma was expelled from her department for not meeting academic standards.
In response, her father angrily suggested that she should take her own life to stop wasting his money on her education.
“My prayer for you is that you take poison or get hit by a car so I can happily come and bury you. I’m your father, and that is my prayer for you. You can’t just be wasting my money,” he said in part.

Reactions to Father Urging Daughter to Die After Expulsion Over Low CGPA
somtochukwu080 said: “This is a man who’s angry. I’m not saying his words are right, but you gotta understand him. The way the country is, spending so much money to send your child to school and they aren’t serious with it and fail every class, I’d be mad and disappointed too. I know how it feels because I have younger ones in school. It’s not easy to train someone for school.”
mastersofartlagos opined: “Parents like this usually force their kids to study what they don’t want, and when they don’t do well, they make them feel like trash! Most parents cause serious trauma for people! 😢 It is well. Anyway, you can get amazing deals on art today.”
chioma_mathias noted: “Because of education that she might end up being jobless when she’s done, you are pushing your very own child to depression. What if she commits suicide? And in this lawless country, there’s no justice.”
