Pandemonium as hoodlums attack UNIZIK students

Pandemonium erupted after hoodlums attacked students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University on Ifite Road Sunday night, injuring several freshers—including a male student who lost three fingers—prompting hospital visits at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital and heightened campus security.

Hoodlums, suspected herdsmen, attacked Nnamdi Azikiwe University students Sunday night, injuring several. Victims, mostly freshers, were heading to night lesson on Ifite Road around 9pm.

A male student lost 3 fingers defending himself; twin sister wounded. Mother posted on WhatsApp: “My son’s 3 fingers cut off, twin sister wounded.” Attackers ambushed them on lonely path.

University officials visited victims at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Monday. Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Kingsley Ubaoji, CSO Ken Chukwura, and others checked on them.

Acting DIR Louis Njelita confirmed attack, “Yes, there was an attack, CSO informed, actions taken.” Security beefed up; students advised avoid lonely paths night.

Parents anxious; campus tense. “New students naive about dangers,” source said. University assures safety review.
