Parents React as Schools Remained Closed in Zamfara for over Two Months

Schools in Zamfara has been closed for over two months, the reason being the abduction of over 70 students from Government day secondary school, a public school in zamfara state.

This has prompted parents to voice out her concerns over her daughter”s inability to remember most of the lessons she was taught in school because the zeal to learn is fading gradually as the school remained closed.

She said: “Governments are meant to look into this school issue because everywhere you go in zamfara now, most of the students are roaming about”

Another concerned mother of a student said “What the government need to do is to improve security across various schools before reopening , that is what i expect our government to do instead of giving room to students to be roaming around without going to school for months now”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Education in Zamfara state Zainab Lawal Gumi said

“There is a special committee the government has put in place about this issue, and as i”m talking to you, they are working hard to ensure high security in all schools before we will announce resumption date”

Zamfara state government also did imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew on 13 local government area and 8pm to 6am in Gusau, the state capital.
