Proprietor frowns at wearing of skimpy dresses, “crazy jeans” by teachers

Kwara teachers should stop wearing “crazy jeans’’, transparent clothing and skimpy dresses to the classroom, Mr. Kunle Olusola, proprietor of a private school in the state advised on Friday in Ilorin.

Olusola told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that teachers in other states of the federation should also take the advice and be professional in the discharge of their duties.

“It is very unprofessional for a teacher to wear just anything to the classroom. It is expected of every teacher to dress decently and be polite in the presence of pupils and students.

“A teacher is expected to be a mentor to students in the way they speak; the way they dress and behave in the classroom.

“Teachers must be professional and polite in the discharge of their duties.

“We cannot ignore the ethics of the profession and focus on the academic aspects alone,’’ he said.

Olusola also called on his colleague school proprietors to enforce dress code on teachers and not allow free style dressing in the school environment.

He also called on education stakeholders to ensure strict monitoring of schools to curb indecent dressing among teachers.

“We have been focusing only on students. Let us focus also on teachers to correct anomalies in the education system.

“Enough of crazy jeans, transparent wears and short gowns in the classroom,’’ Olusola stressed. (NAN)
