A group of students from Evergreen School in Enugu has taken a remarkable step by adopting a 7-year-old girl named Amazing-Grace Ikechukwu, who was found living in inadequate conditions.
The students discovered Amazing-Grace during a recent visit to her neighborhood. They learned that her mother is alive but unable to support her, while her father has abandoned the family.
Moved by her situation, the students have pledged to raise funds for her education and welfare.
Alex Onyia, who shared Amazing-Grace’s story on X (formerly Twitter), praised the students’ efforts.
“They became interested in her during their slum visit and realized the difficult situation she was in. They have started raising funds for the child and have decided to make her their sister going forward,” he wrote. “This will ensure she has access to education and proper care. I love this!”
