Shun Internet fraud, cultism, cheating, UNICROSS warns fresh students

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Augustine Angba, has warned the new intakes of the institution to shun anti-social activities while in school.

He gave the warning on Wednesday when over 6,250 students were formally admitted into the institution.

Angba said,

“As you start your journey as a full citizen of CRUTECH/UNICROSS, it is pertinent to know that education is a choice. If you are not willing to learn, nobody can force you; if you are determined to learn nobody can stop you…It is my desire and sincere prayers that in the next four or five years, all of you will gather here for convocation. Reject any activity – cult, yahoo-yahoo and other unlawful associations – that will take you out of your dreams.”

“Refuse to listen to those who propagate the idea that you can only have good grades through ‘sorting’. This is not true and the university condemns ‘sorting’ completely and in strong terms.

“The act of arson and destruction of the university’s property for any reason is equally frowned on. Just as we condemn all forms of social vices, it is important to note that the school authority will reward well-behaved students accordingly.”

He pledged to continue to provide facilities for learning and called on the institution’s stakeholders to join together and build a legacy that would stand the test of time.
