Six secondary school students from Nigeria will compete in the 2024 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) at Disneyland, Anaheim, California, from July 28 to 31, a competition that boast of 150 participants where their prowess in Microsoft Office Applications will be tested.


Six secondary school students from Nigeria will compete in the 2024 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) at Disneyland, Anaheim, California, from July 28 to 31. This global event tests students’ proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and draws participants from over 150 countries annually.
The students were chosen as Nigeria’s representatives after winning the 2024 MOS Nigeria competition, organized by ReadManna from October 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024.
Mrs. Edna Agusto, CEO of ReadManna Empowerment Initiative (REI), highlighted Nigeria’s consistent top-tier performance over the past 15 years, often finishing in the top 10. Sponsored by Zenith Bank, the Nigerian competition challenges students to showcase their skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Agusto emphasized that the MOS certification is highly regarded globally, enhancing job prospects and laying a foundation for advanced ICT training.
The selected students are:
- Olamiposi Ayoola Ajisafe: Excel 2019 winner from Faith Academy, Lagos, scoring 1,000/1,000.
- Gabari Rume: Word 2019 winner from Grace High School, Lagos, scoring 1,000/1,000.
- Daniel Uzugbo: PowerPoint 2019 winner from Faith Academy, Ota, Ogun State, scoring 1,000/1,000.
- Bolurinwa Fabuyi: Excel Office 365 winner from City of Knowledge Academy, Ogun State, scoring 980/1,000.
- Arigbabu Oluwadamisola: Word Office 365 winner from Faith Academy, Ota, Ogun State, scoring 1,000/1,000.
- Excel Chukwuemeka: PowerPoint Office 365 winner from Faith Academy, Ota, Ogun State, scoring 1,000/1,000.
The students will be accompanied by their ICT teachers, Mr. Stephen Aimufua of Faith Academy and Mr. Omotayo Adeniyi of Louisville Girls High School, recognized for their contributions to the competition.
Agusto noted that MOS certification offers global recognition, making certified users attractive for employment and advanced ICT training opportunities. Entries for the competition came from various regions and institutions, and 126 students, including 68 boys and 58 girls, were shortlisted in the national finals held across multiple locations.
ReadManna Empowerment Initiative aims to promote practical digital literacy aligned with global standards through such competitions and conferences.
