Certain Nigerian students accessing their 2023 WASSCE results were surprised with what they saw when they checked their results…

Certain students were taken aback upon accessing the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results on the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) website, where the term “INDEBTED” appeared.
This situation sparked discontent among Nigerians, as two distinct sets of results bearing the label “INDEBTED” circulated on social media platforms.
A probe by Legit.ng revealed that these students with “INDEBTED” results hail from states where WAEC opted to retain their results.
Patrick Areghan, the National Office Head, stated that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results of students from eight states in the nation were withheld due to their outstanding debts to the council, as reported by Vanguard.
During a media conference in Lagos on Monday, Areghan refrained from disclosing the complete list of indebted states but specifically highlighted Zamfara and Niger as the states with the highest outstanding payments.
He conveyed optimism that certain states would settle their debts in the near future.
His words: “I need to restate that the results of candidates sponsored by states indebted to the Council will not be released now until they pay up. We appeal to them to do so to enable the affected schools/candidates to access their results.”
Nigerians react to the result:
TommyLee Jones said: “Meanwhile those state Governors kids are schooling abroad.”
Master Wino said: “Which means ur school has problem with the waec board.” Vivian Theodore said: “What again do we need to hear in this country.”
Adekunle Chukwuma said: “Banana Republic where everything goes. “Why punishing individual for crime of State, “Nigeria, officially a failed country.”
Vonne Online Collections said: “And none of the state governor’s children are schooling in their state.. “E…v…il people.”
