Students Surprise Kind Nigerian Security Guard With a Trip Home – Gives Him $30,000

Cursory: Students at Providence College organized a surprise fundraiser for James, a security guard known for his warmth, to visit his family in Nigeria. Despite financial constraints, they raised $30,000 on GoFundMe. Overwhelmed with emotion, James was presented with the gift, fulfilling his dream and showcasing the power of community spirit and compassion.

In a heartwarming tale of generosity and community spirit, CBS News recently shared the inspiring story of James, a dedicated security guard at Providence College in Nigeria, who received a life-changing surprise from the students he diligently protects.

Despite working four overnight shifts each week, James is known for his warm smile and welcoming demeanor, always ready for a chat no matter the hour. However, for the past five years, James has longed to visit his family back in Nigeria but has been unable to do so due to financial constraints.

Moved by James’s unwavering kindness and dedication, student organizer Brandon Reichart took it upon himself to organize a secret fundraiser on GoFundMe to make James’s dream a reality.

The goal was simple: to raise enough money to cover the cost of a plane ticket to Nigeria and provide James with some pocket money for his trip.

The response from the community was nothing short of extraordinary. Donations poured in, surpassing all expectations and eventually reaching an incredible $30,000. With the funds secured, Brandon and his fellow students eagerly awaited the moment to reveal the surprise to James.

Gathering in James’s office, Brandon and his companions presented him with the life-changing gift. Overwhelmed with emotion, James covered his face and fell to the floor in disbelief as Brandon announced, “We started a GoFundMe to take care of our own, because that’s what we do here at PC. As long as I’ve been here they’ve done that for me, we do that for each other, so now we’re doing it for you,”

“You’re part of the family, so our gift to you is a trip to Nigeria,” he added.

The heartwarming gesture not only fulfilled James’s lifelong dream of reuniting with his family but also exemplified the close-knit community spirit at Providence College. Through their selfless act of kindness, the students demonstrated the power of compassion and solidarity, showing that together, they can make dreams come true.

It is typically reserved for people of high standing or for children to their elders.
