A Lagos Magistrate Court has remanded teacher Stella Nwadigbo to Kirikiri Correctional Facility for allegedly assaulting a three-year-old pupil in Ikorodu, with the case adjourned to February 18, 2025.


A Lagos Magistrate Court in Ogba has ordered the remand of 45-year-old Stella Nwadigbo at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility for allegedly assaulting a three-year-old pupil in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Command arrested Nwadigbo on January 8, 2025, after a viral video showed her repeatedly slapping the child during a lesson, sparking public outrage. The case, initially handled by the Family Support Unit (FSU) of the Ikorodu Police Division, was later transferred to the Gender Unit at the Command Headquarters for further investigation.
According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the victim has been taken to a medical facility for treatment. The Ogba Magistrate Court has adjourned the case to February 18, 2025, for further hearing.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, commended citizens for reporting the incident and assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring safety and justice.
