CURSORY : The UNICAL’s dean of the faculty of Law, who was accused of rape by female students of the university has received ed bail.


Professor Cyril Ndifom, the dean of the faculty of Law, university of Calabar (UNICAL) who was suspended has been granted bail by the federal high court sitting in Abuja.
The bail was granted with the sum of #250 million and recognition of his counsel, iKon Edit, a senior advocate of Nigeria.
The dean was granted bail by Justice Omotosho for two weeks, the reason for the bail was that he had to undergo optical surgery, even though the application they made for bail wasn’t due for hearing.
Some conditions were made following the bail of the dean, which included the time period of the bail- which is from 10th to 25th of January, and also the submission of the travel documents of the dean and his lawyer to the court….The hearing is to continue on 26th of January
Why Prof Ndifon of UNICAL was arrested The UNICAL professor Cyril Ndifon was arrested in August 2023 due to an investigation carried out by UNICAL following some sexual harassment allegations on the school by the students.
The professor was accused by some female students of the faculty of sexual assault and harassment the students of the university stormed the office of the vice-chancellor, Prof Florence Obi, with different placards In protest.
The professor claimed that some of his colleagues who were holding grudges against him were the ones who sponsored the protest, and he vehemently denied the allegations.
According to the professor:’’’ i don’t know why they have chosen to drag my name into the mud. This was why I said earlier that the allegations were lies, cooked from the pit of hell’’.
