The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has introduced a courier service for certificate collection to enhance convenience for graduates, especially those abroad, with a January 17, 2025, deadline to avoid weekly fines.

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State has introduced a new courier service system to facilitate the collection of unclaimed certificates, marking a shift towards international best practices.
According to the university’s registrar, Mr. Mansur Alfanla, the initiative allows graduates and alumni to receive their certificates through courier delivery, offering greater convenience, particularly for those residing outside Nigeria. This system replaces the university’s previous policy, which prohibited third-party collection of certificates.
To use the courier service, applicants must submit the original statement of results, a court affidavit, an indemnity form, and a valid international passport (for those in the diaspora).
For individuals who prefer to collect their certificates in person, physical collection is available at the university from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
“This development aims to provide convenience for graduates and alumni, especially those living abroad,” Alfanla said.
In a memo dated December 18, the university urged all graduates to collect their certificates before January 17, 2025. Graduates who fail to meet this deadline will incur a fine of ₦3,000 per week until they retrieve their certificates.
