The 2025 UTME results released by JAMB reveal that over 1.5 million out of nearly 2 million candidates scored below 200, with only a few achieving top scores, while a small number of underage candidates granted special access showed exceptional performance.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the official statistics for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), offering insight into the performance of nearly two million Nigerian students who sat for the exam.
According to JAMB, out of the 1,955,069 registered candidates, more than 1.5 million scored below the 200 mark. Only a small fraction achieved higher scores, with 4,756 candidates scoring above 320 and another 7,658 scoring between 300 and 319.
The Board also highlighted that 40,247 underage candidates were granted special permission to participate in the exam due to their exceptional academic profiles. However, just 467 of them—representing 1.16%—met the threshold for outstanding performance, with further evaluations still pending in subsequent assessment stages.
