A Nigerian couple’s relationship ended after the woman received a UK student visa while the man was denied over fears he wouldn’t return, leading to an emotional airport goodbye as he urged her to pursue her dreams alone.

A Nigerian man has shared a heartbreaking story about how a visa decision ended his relationship after he and his girlfriend planned to study together in the United Kingdom.
According to him, they had been dating for a year and applied for the same master’s programme at the same university, completing their applications together at a cybercafé. While his partner was granted a student visa, his own application was rejected because authorities believed he might not return after his studies.
Despite his girlfriend offering to postpone her plans so they could reapply together, he encouraged her to go ahead and pursue her dreams. Their final moment together was at the airport, where they shared a quiet, emotional goodbye before she departed for London.
He described how they sat in silence eating, holding back their emotions, and when her flight was called, she told him she loved him. Unable to say it back, he simply asked her to move forward without looking back.
He concluded that their relationship did not end because of cheating or conflict, but because a system that overlooked their love ultimately separated them.
