The Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, has pledged to sponsor the tertiary education of a lady identified as Akosua Adjei Boateng, a top WAEC awardee who passed her exam with 8As.


The Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, has pledged to sponsor the tertiary education of Akosua Adjei Boateng, a top WAEC awardee. Despite her outstanding performance in the 2023 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Akosua, an orphan, has been unable to continue her education due to financial constraints.
Akosua was recognized as the best student in the technical program category of the 2023 WASSCE. A former student of Juaso Senior High Technical School in Juaso-Ashanti, she achieved grade A in all eight subjects.
Following the announcement of her situation at the WAEC Distinction Awards, Dr. Nkansah declared his intention to sponsor Akosua’s tertiary education.
The Ghana News Agency reported that Dr. Nkansah had immediately arranged to meet with Akosua and some of her family members to discuss the support further.
Dr. Nkansah, who hails from Juaso, received commendation from the audience for his generous offer. Akosua aspires to become a civil engineer.
