Oseremen Molen, a Nigerian lady who overcame numerous challenges to graduate as the top Dentistry student at the University of Calabar after eight years, has celebrated her induction into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria while reflecting on the importance of consistency and volunteering in mental health advocacy.


A remarkable young Nigerian woman, Oseremen Molen, has graduated from the University of Calabar, Nigeria, as a Dentist. Her journey through medical school spanned eight years, two more than the standard six-year timeline, due to various challenges.
Oseremen received her Bachelor’s in Dentistry from the University’s College of Medicine, celebrating her achievement with multiple distinctions that earned her the title of overall best-graduating student.
She proudly shared this milestone on LinkedIn, noting her induction into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
“On Monday, the 24th of June, I was inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). So, allow me to re-introduce myself. Dr. Claire Molen (MBBch Cal.),” she announced. Despite the extended duration of her studies, Oseremen’s dedication and hard work paid off.
She delivered the valedictory speech at her graduation, reflecting on the value of consistency in achieving excellence. “I never dreamed of it. However, what has become pivotal to me from all of this is the value of consistency in oiling the engine of excellence,” she remarked.
Throughout her academic journey, Oseremen also dedicated time to volunteer work, particularly in mental health advocacy. She was actively involved with the Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative (MANI) and Antisuicide and Depression Squad (ASADS).
Her experiences inspired her to establish a student-driven mental health support system within her university community, called the Asido Campus Network Calabar.
Looking ahead, Oseremen expressed her excitement for the next chapter, particularly her housemanship program. She is eager to embrace new experiences and challenges that await her in her medical career.
