A Nigerian youth corps member, deeply moved by the poor condition of a classroom after her first visit, couldn’t sleep and decided to renovate it with the help of friends, creating a conducive learning environment and a mini-workshop to encourage student responsibility, inspiring admiration on social media for her selfless act and dedication to community service.

A Nigerian youth corps member has captured the hearts of many on social media by transforming a dilapidated classroom. After her initial visit to the classroom, she was so disturbed by its poor condition that she couldn’t sleep. This experience drove her to take action.
She shared her journey in a video posted on her social media page, explaining her motivation and the challenges she faced.

She recounted her first encounter with the classroom, describing how the state of the room left her sleepless. Determined to make a positive impact, she decided to renovate the classroom and repair the chairs.
In the video, she wrote a heartfelt note detailing her experience:
“The truth is, going to NYSC last year was not an easy task for me, but deep down, I knew I wanted to do it, at least for my mother’s sake… I still cannot understand what mothers see in NYSC 🤣.
“I was posted to Madalla Secondary School in Suleja, where I teach SS1A Biology… my favorite subject 😁.
“The moment I entered this class, I knew I had to do something about its condition. And guess what? I DID IT 🥳 Thanks to my amazing friends and the quality Rotarians around me; you guys mean the world to me. x
“Was it easy? NO.
“Was it a challenge? YES.
“Did I give up at some point? YES.
“Did it take my time? YES.
“BUT I DID IT ANYWAY!!!
“I had two goals in mind: The first was to create a conducive learning environment, and the second was to establish a mini-workshop to encourage the kids to take more accountability and responsibility for their actions.
“The truth is, nobody or government can save you unless you take responsibility for what you can do to help yourself.
“Dear friends, NYSC, Madalla community, the principal, my LGI (Local Government Inspector), my Matron, my students, and my beautiful self for making this possible. Also, thanks for your support, love, and kindness ❤️.”
The video and her efforts have attracted widespread admiration on social media, with many users sharing their thoughts and commendations.
