2024 JAMB: You Must Show This at Registration Center + Tips to Score High

JAMB has disclosed what all 2024 candidates must present at registration centers before they can complete their registration.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has informed the public that they must show the text message showing their profile code and ePIN before completing their UTME Registration at JAMB Registration Centers.

This was disclosed in the board’s weekly bulletin published on Monday.

According to JAMB, candidates must show a screenshot of the profile code and pin they received through text messages sent from 55019 or 66019.

Explaining why candidates must show the message before registration, JAMB said it’s to prevent problems of identity mix-up, and destroying of candidates’ details, as well as prevention of unnecessary court cases.

The JAMB bulletin partly reads, “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated its directive that candidates, who visit CBT centres for UTME registration, must display their profile codes and e-PINs as vended from the Board’s USSD(55019 or 66019) on the mobile phones with which they had created such profile codes, otherwise they would not be registered.

This directive becomes necessary to avoid the perennial problem of identity mix-up, mutilation of candidates’ details, as well as prevention of unnecessary litigation occasioned by candidates, who provide such information on pieces of paper only to later turn around to lay claims to different details.”

JAMB also disclosed that this measure will prevent any form of examination malpractice as well as ensure candidates’ records are accurate.

As stated in the bulletin reads: “Furthermore, by instituting this policy, the Board aims to preclude the issue of identity theft, which is fast becoming the tool of choice employed by examination cheats worldwide to compromise examinations.

In addition, the measure would ensure the accuracy and reliability of candidates’ records, thereby saving the huge man hours and resources expended annually by the Board on needless data correction.

To stress the importance of this directive, JAMB has suspended a JAMB CBT Center from the ongoing 2024 UTME Registration for violating the directive.

According to the bulletin: “… the Board has suspended Total Child Computer and CBT Centre (TCCC), Abuja, from the ongoing 2024 registration exercise for violating this unambiguous directive.

Specifically, TCCC was suspended for registering candidates with ePINs copied manually an d presented by candidates as against the mandatory display of the profile code and vended e-PINs as received on their phone screens.

This act was viewed as a serious misconduct capable of causing mixups of candidates’ biodata and other sensitive information given the fact that all centres have been sufficiently briefed on the huge implications of doing otherwise.

Take Away:

To JAMB Candidates: Before going to a JAMB CBT Center to complete your registration, make sure you have the message that shows your profile code and ePIN that JAMB sent to you through text message. The message must come from either 55019 or 66019, the JAMB’s official USSD code.

If you do not have this message, you will NOT be allowed to register for the 2024 JAMB.

“What if I have lost or deleted my ePIN or profile code”?

If you have lost your ePIN, do this:

  • Send UTMEPIN TO 55019 or 66019

For Direct entry candidates, to retrieve your ePIN, send DEPIN to 55019 or 66019.

If you have lost your profile code, do this, just send RESEND to 55019 or 66019 and your profile code will be sent to you as a text message.
