In a bid to nurture innovation and support future leaders, Moniepoint Inc., led by Group CEO Tosin Eniolorunda, has honored three Nigerian university students as winners of the inaugural Tosin Eniolorunda Innovation Challenge. This initiative, organized by the Management Students Association at the University of Lagos, is designed to foster entrepreneurship among young Nigerians.
The winners were announced during the 4th Annual Students Entrepreneurship Programme, which featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking sessions aimed at empowering future business leaders with the skills to drive SME growth. The event in Lagos centered around the theme, “Bridging The Gap From Micro To Macro: Empowering SMEs To Drive Sustainable National Growth.”
Participants were challenged to devise innovative solutions to the challenges faced by SMEs, highlighting the importance of an entrepreneurial mindset in addressing societal issues. Tosin Eniolorunda, represented by Efemena Ogie, Head of Partnerships at Moniepoint, emphasized that small businesses are key to innovation and that empowering them is both a strategic and moral imperative.
Reflecting on the initiative, Eniolorunda shared that his own experiences as a university student solving problems for peers inspired his support for young entrepreneurs. He noted, “This initiative aligns with our vision of powering dreams and enabling the growth of SMEs across Nigeria.”
The Innovation Challenge not only provided winners with seed funding to grow their ventures but also offered mentorship, workshops, and training to help them make a significant impact in their communities.
Following a rigorous selection process, five finalists presented their ideas to a panel of expert judges, which included industry leaders such as Gabriel Balogun, Head of Learning and Development at Moniepoint Inc., and Katherine Adesomoju, CEO of Spectrum Holdings.
One of the winners, Halimat Ariyo, expressed her gratitude after receiving a N1 million prize, saying, “I am energized to take my business to the next level, and the world will know my name.”
The Tosin Eniolorunda Innovation Challenge underscores the importance of nurturing young talent and fostering innovation for Nigeria’s socio-economic growth, reaffirming Moniepoint’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and preparing young Nigerians for global impact.
