Craig McFarland, an 18-year-old student from the Philippines, has achieved the honor of being named the top graduating student at Stanton College Preparatory School in the United States, boasting an impressive 4.98 grade point average.

Throughout his academic journey at Stanton College Preparatory School in Jacksonville, United States, Craig demonstrated exceptional dedication, culminating in his graduation as the valedictorian of his class.

His rigorous curriculum in his senior year included courses in French, Spanish, and Arabic, reflecting his passion for languages and writing.

Craig’s remarkable academic achievements did not go unnoticed, as he received acceptance letters from 17 universities and colleges across the country. Particularly noteworthy was his acceptance into all eight Ivy League universities, including Princeton University, Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, Brown University, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, Yale University, and Harvard University.

Upon receiving the news of his acceptance to Yale University, Craig expressed his excitement and disbelief, recounting the joyful moment he shared with his sister in their room. Reflecting on his journey, Craig attributed his success to his self-motivation and determination, instilled in him from a young age.

In his words:

“I was just yelling in shock when I heard the Yale acceptance video, I was alone with my sister in my room and opened all the Ivy League schools one by one. When I opened Harvard as the last one, my sister and I ran to my dog and danced around.

“I’m very much self-motivated and driven. I never wanted to add any additional stress to her life as she’s already had to sacrifice so much, so I learned to be really independent at a young age.”

Despite receiving full scholarships to prestigious universities such as Florida State University and the University of Florida, Craig ultimately decided to pursue his bachelor’s degree at Yale University.

Before choosing Yale University, he was considering Florida State University, Harvard, and Stanford University where he wanted to study biochemistry and linguistics, but was not sure whether he wanted to go into law or medicine.

Craig stated that he and his siblings were raised by his mother who had to sacrifice a lot for them to be comfortable.
