Among them, 22 achieved First Class degrees. Additionally, NOUN will honor two, distinguished personalities for their remarkable contributions to business and literature, respectively.
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is set to celebrate the graduation of 22,175 students at its 13th convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, April 13. This exciting announcement was made by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olufemi Peters, during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, April 8, according to Leadership newspaper.
Professor Peters revealed that among the graduating students, 22 achieved First Class degrees. Providing further details, he mentioned that the university has 15,768 undergraduate students and 6,407 postgraduate students will graduate. He expressed his delight in announcing that six students will be awarded PhDs.
In his words:
“I’m happy to report that we have 6 PhDs graduate which is an indication that the University is gradually moving towards establishing a more robust post graduate school.”
In addition to celebrating the academic achievements of its students, NOUN will also honor two distinguished Nigerians during the convocation ceremony. Dr. Innocent Chukuwuma, a renowned entrepreneur and founder of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (Innoson Motors), will be recognized for his outstanding contributions to the business sector. The university will also pay tribute to activist Hajiya Hafsat Abdulwaheed, the first female novelist in Northern Nigeria, for her significant literary achievements, as reported by The Nigerian Tribune.
