David Umahi’s Daughter Graduates with First-Class Honours in Robotics Engineering from UK University

Kimberly Olanma Nweze, daughter of Nigeria’s Minister of Works David Umahi, graduated with First Class Honours in Robotics Engineering from Queen Mary University of London, becoming the second known Nigerian to achieve this distinction.

Kimberly Olanma Nweze, the daughter of Nigeria’s current Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has graduated with First Class Honours in Robotics Engineering from Queen Mary University of London, one of the United Kingdom’s most respected institutions.

Her academic feat is not only a personal triumph but also a national milestone, as Kimberly becomes only the second known Nigerian to achieve such a distinction in the highly specialized and competitive field of Robotics Engineering. The first Nigerian to accomplish this was Silas Adekunle, globally recognized for creating MekaMon—the world’s first intelligent gaming robot—which led to his own first-class graduation from the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Kimberly’s outstanding academic performance reflects a growing presence of Nigerian students making significant strides in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines on the global stage. Her success is being celebrated as a source of national pride and a testament to the potential of Nigeria’s youth when given access to quality education and opportunities.

Senator David Umahi and his wife, Rachel Umahi, were in attendance at the graduation ceremony in London. The proud parents shared heartfelt moments as they witnessed their daughter being honored for her dedication, perseverance, and excellence in one of the world’s most demanding engineering programs.

Kimberly’s achievement has garnered praise on social media and among academic circles, sparking conversations about the importance of investing in the next generation of innovators, engineers, and technology leaders in Africa.
