Ugwumba Leadership Center Awards Scholarship to Rescued Teenager from Ghana

The Ugwumba Leadership Center has granted a full scholarship to Divine Asuzu, a teenage girl recently rescued and repatriated from Ghana.

The Ugwumba Leadership Center has granted a full scholarship to Divine Asuzu, a teenage girl recently rescued and repatriated from Ghana.

Uche Nwosu, the President of Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, made the announcement after consulting with Divine Asuzu’s parents. Divine hails from Amaokpara community in Nkwerre LGA, Imo State, and has expressed her desire to continue her education.

“As an organization that promotes youth development in Africa, we are awarding her a full scholarship to study at any government university in Nigeria,” Nwosu stated.

Additionally, the Center has approved a monthly upkeep allowance for Divine until her admission. Nwosu extended gratitude to the Board and Management of the Ugwumba Leadership Center for their support in making this possible.

Nwosu, who also served as the Former Chief of Staff to the Imo State governor, praised Imo State Governor Sen. Hope Uzodimma for his prompt actions in rescuing and repatriating underage girls from Ghana.

“I sincerely commend Governor Uzodimma for swiftly ensuring the rescue of these trafficked girls. I also appreciate the efforts of those in the diaspora who raised the alarm, leading to their rescue,” Nwosu said.

He urged the public to support the girls with compassion, recognizing the emotional and psychological trauma they have endured. “This is not the time to pass judgment on these young girls. Let’s embrace them with love and help them regain their place of honor and value in society,” he added.
