After facing 10 rejections, Josiane Pouadjeu Kammani secured full scholarships to four UK universities and a prestigious apprenticeship, highlighting her determination and gratitude for her support system.

Josiane Pouadjeu Kammani, a determined young girl who faced multiple rejections in her quest for higher education, has triumphed by winning fully funded scholarships and gaining acceptance to four universities in the United Kingdom.
Despite encountering numerous setbacks while applying to continue her studies after college, Josiane’s persistence paid off when she received four acceptance letters from UK universities, along with another offer due to her outstanding A-level results, which included three distinctions.
Sharing her journey on LinkedIn, Josiane reflected on the challenging path she took to achieve her accomplishments. She described how she explored various opportunities, applying to universities in both the UK and the United States, as well as seeking degree apprenticeships, all while juggling her A-level studies. Josiane admitted that this was the most exhausting period of her life.
She recalled staying up late for months, writing college essays, customizing her CV for each application, and preparing for interviews. Unlike her peers at Brampton Manor, who applied to Oxbridge, Josiane chose a different path, as it was not her dream and she wanted to avoid the additional stress.
Instead, she applied to several UK universities, including Imperial College, Nottingham University, Manchester University, Bath University, and University College London, with a focus on chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a Bachelor of Engineering. She also applied to 10 US universities through the Sutton Trust and pursued five tech degree apprenticeships.
Although she faced rejections, Josiane emphasized that she does not regret her efforts. In the end, she was accepted by four of the five UK universities, received a full tuition Black Heritage Scholarship from Imperial College, and secured two tech apprenticeships with prestigious companies, IBM and Goldman Sachs, both of which have acceptance rates below 5%. Additionally, she interviewed with top US colleges, including Stanford and Rice University, and completed an internship at a leading FinTech company.
Despite her achievements, Josiane expressed her disappointment over being rejected by all 10 US universities she applied to, but her faith in God remained unwavering. Ultimately, she decided to pursue a Software Engineer Apprenticeship at Goldman Sachs while studying for a bachelor’s degree in Digital and Technology Solutions at Queen Mary University, London.
Josiane expressed deep gratitude to her family, friends, and teachers who supported her throughout her journey, especially her mother, who helped her prepare for interviews and celebrated her successes. She advised other applicants to surround themselves with people who believe in them, as it makes the journey a bit easier.
