One Suspect Arrested After Robbery Attack on Students’ Residences in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command arrested one suspect and launched a manhunt for others after armed robbers attacked student residences near Adamawa State Polytechnic, stealing valuables and injuring several students.

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one suspect following a robbery attack on student residences located near the Numan Campus of Adamawa State Polytechnic in Numan.

According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of May 28, 2026, when a group of armed hoodlums allegedly stormed a students’ compound behind the MOPE Extension area. The attackers were reportedly armed with cutlasses, sticks, and knives and forcefully took away cash, mobile phones, power banks, and other valuable belongings from residents.

Several students sustained injuries during the attack and were immediately taken to a hospital in Numan for medical treatment. Authorities said some victims suffered varying degrees of injuries as a result of the assault.

Following a distress call, police officers attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Demsa quickly responded and launched an investigation. Their efforts led to the arrest of one suspect believed to have participated in the robbery operation.

The command revealed that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the gang who escaped from the scene after the attack. Security operatives have intensified efforts to track down the remaining suspects.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa, Kabir Umar Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation. He assured students and residents that the police remain committed to protecting lives and property while working to eliminate criminal activities across the state. The police also urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
