Kogi University Expels Eight Students Over Examination Malpractice

Confluence University of Science and Technology, Kogi State, expelled eight students after they were found guilty of examination malpractice during the 2025/2026 first semester exams.

The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, has expelled eight students for their involvement in examination malpractice during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session. The decision was officially communicated in a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr. Eli Gbadufu.

According to the university, the expulsion was approved by the institution’s Senate during its 30th regular meeting held on April 29, 2026. The management explained that the disciplinary action followed investigations conducted by the Examination Misconduct Committee into several violations recorded during the examinations.

The institution stated that the affected students were found guilty after undergoing the university’s disciplinary procedures in line with the regulations contained in the Student Handbook. CUSTECH emphasized that the punishment reflected its zero-tolerance policy toward academic dishonesty and misconduct.

The expelled students were identified as Ogedemgbe A. Nelson of the Economics Department, Yakubu Abdulrazak Adavize from Library and Information Science, and Olowu Samuel Ayomide of Mining Engineering. Others include Usman Bilal and Adams Michael from Information Technology, Ale David from Mechanical Engineering, Habiba Muhammed from Business Administration, and Mustapha Faith Adetutu from Agricultural Science.

The university management reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high academic standards and protecting the integrity of its certificates. It also warned students against engaging in activities capable of undermining the credibility of the institution’s academic system.

CUSTECH further urged students to remain disciplined and comply with all institutional rules and regulations. The university added that the expulsion demonstrates its determination to preserve academic excellence and discipline across all faculties as it continues to grow as one of Kogi State’s leading science and technology institutions.
