Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has announced free education for students in senior secondary public schools, starting next week.
The announcement was made during a meeting with principals and head teachers of public primary and secondary schools in Awka, expanding on his earlier policy of free and compulsory education from nursery to junior secondary levels.
Soludo stated that senior secondary students will no longer be required to pay the N5,000 tuition fee, with refunds to be issued to those who have already paid.
He emphasized that this initiative, despite limited resources, will enhance access to education and support the development of students’ talents and abilities.
Additionally, the governor confirmed that the government will begin paying the N70,000 minimum wage in October, further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of workers and students in the state.
