FUTA Graduate Defies Odds to Achieve First Class Honors Amidst Side Hustles

In an inspiring tale of determination and hard work, Oluwatobiloba Popoola, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has achieved a remarkable feat by earning a First Class Honors degree in Animal Production and Health.

Popoola’s journey to academic excellence was not without its challenges. After two unsuccessful attempts to gain admission into a university, he was counselled to apply for the FUTA Pre-Degree Science program. Despite initial indifference, Popoola persevered and eventually found his footing in the Animal Production and Health department.

While juggling his academic responsibilities, Popoola also engaged in side hustles, including laptop repairs and teaching in tutorials. However, it was not until his 200-level semester that he discovered his true potential. Dr. Omotoso, a lecturer, remarked that Popoola had a “first-class potential,” a statement that would later become a driving force for him.

Under the guidance of his supervisor, Dr. Ayeni, Popoola’s academic performance soared. He achieved a perfect CGPA of 5.0 in his 300-level first semester and maintained a high level of academic excellence throughout his remaining semesters.

Popoola’s remarkable achievement is a testament to his dedication and perseverance. With a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.75 out of a possible 5.0, he has proven that success is within reach, regardless of the obstacles one may face.

As he looks to the future, Popoola remains committed to applying the knowledge and skills he acquired during his time at FUTA to solve real-world problems. He is also open to opportunities that will enable him to advance his academic pursuits in the field of Animal Production and Health.
