Nigerian Lady Overcomes Three-Year Admission Delay, Graduates with First-Class in Biochemistry


Despite facing a three-year admission delay, Okikiola Falua graduated with a First-Class degree in Biochemistry from Olabisi Onabanjo University, excelling in scientific research and inspiring others with her resilience.

A resilient Nigerian lady, Okikiola Falua, has achieved academic excellence at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), earning a First-Class degree in Biochemistry despite facing a three-year delay in gaining admission.

Celebrating her achievement on LinkedIn, Okikiola shared how the long wait tested her patience but strengthened her determination. She promised herself to give her best once admitted and remained committed to that goal throughout her academic journey.

“After waiting three years to gain admission, I made a promise to give my best. Though the journey had its challenges, faith, hard work, and support from amazing people kept me going,” she wrote.

Her dedication paid off as she graduated with a 4.56/5.00 CGPA, earning the title of Best Graduating Student in her department.

Beyond academic excellence, Okikiola actively pursued scientific research, specializing in molecular docking simulations focused on Cytochrome P450 and contributing to a publication on antibody-based therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease.

She has expertise in biochemical laboratory techniques such as spectrophotometry and molecular docking, with proficiency in computational biology tools like AutoDock and Chimera.

As she embarks on the next phase of her journey, Okikiola is actively seeking opportunities in research, industry, and graduate studies related to Biochemistry, Drug Discovery, and Computational Biology.

She hopes to contribute to groundbreaking scientific advancements and encourages those facing setbacks to remain hopeful, stating that delays are not denials.
