Ederhite Ovie, a brilliant Nigerian graduate from FUTA, achieved a 4.92 CGPA in Industrial Engineering, earning 75 distinctions out of 83 courses, while also excelling in leadership, industry internships, and community service.


A Nigerian scholar, Ederhite Ovie, has achieved extraordinary academic success by graduating from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) with an impressive 4.92 CGPA in Industrial and Production Engineering.
Ovie’s exceptional performance ranked him among the top 1% of the Class of 2023/2024, which consisted of over 5,000 graduates. Throughout his time at FUTA, Ovie earned a place on the Dean’s List for 10 consecutive semesters, securing five perfect GPAs of 5.0, with his lowest GPA being 4.74.
His dedication and hard work resulted in 75 distinctions out of 83 courses, earning him multiple academic awards and recognition.
Reflecting on his journey, Ovie shared on LinkedIn that he initially dreamed of attending a military academy and becoming an Air Force cadet, but his path took an unexpected turn when he enrolled at the university, which ultimately shaped his growth and aspirations.
Beyond his academic success, Ovie took on significant leadership roles during his university years. He served as Librarian of his church fellowship in his second year, Academic Coordinator in his third year, and President of the fellowship in his final year. He believes strongly in the power of faith and service, stating, “I am a living testament to the saying, ‘It pays to serve God.’”
Ovie also gained valuable industry experience during internships with Chevron Nigeria Limited and Tempo Paper Pulp & Packaging Plc, where he gained hands-on exposure and insights into the industry. In addition to his academic pursuits, Ovie dedicated time to volunteering and mentorship, serving as Program Chairperson for the SPE FUTA Chapter and as an Active Volunteer with Teens-Launch Africa and CleanUP.
He expressed deep gratitude to his parents, friends, and his fellowship family (ASF) for their unwavering support. He also thanked his academic mentors and organizations like Chevron, the Petroleum Training and Development Fund, and Renaissance Support for their role in supporting his journey.
Looking ahead, Ovie is excited to face new challenges, create a positive impact, and inspire others to follow their dreams. “With faith and hard work, no dream is unattainable,” he said.
