Journalist Emeka Monye established a ₦2 million endowment fund at UNN to reward the best Mass Communication graduate annually for 10 years, promoting academic excellence and giving back to his alma mater.

Emeka Monye, Arise News’ Anambra correspondent, has launched a ₦2 million endowment fund to recognize the best graduating student in the Mass Communication department at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Enugu State.
Announced during a university ceremony on Wednesday, the initiative aims to promote academic excellence and give back to Monye’s alma mater. The fund, set to run for 10 years, will award ₦200,000 annually to the department’s top graduate.
Monye, an Owerre-Olubor, Delta State native, expressed hope that his initiative would inspire fellow journalists and well-meaning Nigerians to support intellectual growth in higher education.
In response, Leonard Ezeme, Senior Deputy Registrar and Head of the Career Services Centre at UNN, conveyed the university’s appreciation, highlighting the governing council’s gratitude for Monye’s generosity.
“We thank Emeka Monye of Arise News for his generous contribution to our university,” the letter read, inviting him or a representative to attend the Prize and Awards Night Convocation Ceremony to witness the impact of his support.
The letter concluded with the acting Vice Chancellor’s heartfelt appreciation and best regards.
