Inspiring Nigerian Woman Graduates Top of Her Class at UI with 3.82/4.00 in Engineering, Celebrates Remarkable Achievement

Latifat Oseni, an outstanding Nigerian graduate from the University of Ibadan, achieved the highest honors with a CGPA of 3.82 in Industrial and production engineering.

Latifat Oseni, a remarkable Nigerian woman, has achieved the honor of being the best graduating female student at the University of Ibadan for the 2024 academic year.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Production Engineering, boasting an impressive 3.82 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) on a scale of 4.00.

Latifat’s academic journey began at Yaba College of Technology, where she pursued Welding and Fabrication Engineering, graduating as the highest-achieving female student of the 2020/2021 academic session with a CGPA of 3.80.

To advance her studies, she enrolled in the University of Ibadan through a Direct Entry program. In a conversation with TESA, she revealed that she had envisioned this achievement long before it unfolded, as she had previously excelled.

Latifat described her experience at UI as challenging yet fulfilling. The pressure to uphold high academic standards, especially during examination periods, often felt overwhelming. Financial and emotional stress accompanied her journey, leading to moments of tears after difficult courses such as data analysis.

Despite these hurdles, she remained resilient. Her firm belief that God orchestrates the best plans provided her with strength during trying times, as she reminded herself that achieving greatness requires giving her absolute best.

In addition to her studies, Latifat was involved in various extracurricular activities. She effectively served as the assistant coordinator of the Muslim Tech Students Gathering (MTSG) under the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, University of Ibadan Chapter (MSSNUI), without compromising her academic success.

She also pursued her passion for data analysis by taking supplementary courses to enhance her skills.

Reflecting on her accolade, Latifat shared a profound sense of accomplishment, viewing her success as a personal victory over the numerous challenges present in the academic environment.

For women aspiring to excel in STEM fields, Latifat urged them to stay resolute in their journeys. Her belief is that success is attainable if one is determined to endure through difficult times and persevere.

She also advised undergraduates to maintain consistent class attendance, collaborate with peers, and, above all, recognize the importance of prayer.

Looking ahead, Latifat aims to create a future that harmonizes her engineering expertise with data analysis, confident that with divine guidance, she will triumph in whatever lies ahead.
