UMYU Senate Expels 57 Students Over Exam Malpractice

UMYU Senate Approves Expulsion, Rustication, and Warning for Students Involved in Examination Misconduct.

The Senate of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, at its 125th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, has approved the recommendations of the University Central Examination Misconduct Committee (UCEMC) regarding cases of examination misconduct involving students from various faculties.

Following a thorough investigation and deliberation, a total of 57 students have been expelled from the University for their involvement in various forms of examination malpractice. This decisive action underscores the University’s zero-tolerance policy towards academic dishonesty and its commitment to upholding the integrity of its examinations.

Additionally, the Senate approved the rustication of five (5) students for two academic semesters (2024/2025 session). Their respective examination papers for which malpractice was established have also been cancelled.

Furthermore, two (2) students have been issued with official written warnings to be kept in their academic records. These measures are aimed at deterring future occurrences of examination malpractice and reinforcing the University’s commitment to academic excellence and ethical conduct.

The University management wishes to reiterate that it remains steadfast in ensuring that academic activities are conducted in line with established rules and standards. Students are strongly advised to shun all forms of academic misconduct as the University will not hesitate to apply appropriate sanctions in line with its regulations.
