Gombe State University Gets New Substantive Vice-chancellor.


The Governing Council of Gombe State University has approved the appointment of Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta as the Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Professor Yauta, a distinguished scholar and seasoned administrator, has been a dedicated member of the University community since 2006, rising from Graduate Assistant to Professor of Educational Management and Finance. He is widely celebrated as a “GSU-bred scholar,” having contributed immensely to the institution’s growth and development.
Over the years, Professor Yauta has served in several strategic capacities, including:
- Programme Coordinator
- Head of Department of Educational Foundations
- Deputy Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Education
- Acting Director of the Directorate of General Studies
- Pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)
He also extended his leadership beyond GSU as Deputy Provost of the College of Education, Billiri. Until this appointment, he was serving as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University.
An accomplished academic, Professor Yauta earned his:
- B.Sc. (Ed) in Economics from the University of Abuja
- M.Ed. in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Maiduguri
- PhD in Higher Education Management and Finance from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka
His scholarship record includes:
- More than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles
- 8 book chapters
- Over 10 conference presentations
He has successfully supervised numerous postgraduate theses and dissertations. He is an active member of several professional bodies, including:
- Nigerian Association of Educational Planners and Administration (NAEPA)
- Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management (CCEAM)
- Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN)
Nationally, he has contributed as a Chief External Examiner with the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB).
Professor Yauta brings to this office a wealth of academic, administrative, and community leadership experience. The Governing Council is confident that his appointment will further consolidate the University’s growth, academic excellence, and service to society.
