The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Student Union Government has suspended its President, Chinedu Ozoagu, and seven other executives over allegations of cultism, student murder, intimidation, and the misappropriation of over ₦320 million in union funds.

The Student Union Government (SUG) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has indefinitely suspended its President, Chinedu Ozoagu, along with seven other executive members, over allegations of cult-related activities, threats to life, gross misconduct, and financial impropriety.
The suspended officials include:
- Ihentugo Rejoice – Deputy Speaker
- Emmanuel Asadu
- Agbo Sobechukwu Malachy
- Chinweike Dorothy
- Victory Chidiebere
- Chukwuma JohnPaul
- Edmund Solomon
The decision followed a petition submitted to the SUG House of Representatives, which reportedly implicated the officials in aiding and abetting cultists and non-students within the campus for monetary benefits.
In a joint statement signed by Speaker Ikechukwu Eze and Clerk Chidozie Onah, the House accused the officials of complicity in the murder of a student within the university. It was further alleged that the cult groups were being used to intimidate and threaten the Speaker, Clerk, the Budget Committee Chairman, and other members of the House who opposed their actions.
On the issue of financial mismanagement, the statement revealed that the former Acting Vice-Chancellor (recently removed by the Federal Government) had approved the release of ₦124 million for SUG projects. However, the funds were allegedly diverted and shared among external individuals and SUG executives, with no visible projects executed.
Additionally, the report highlighted an unaccounted ₦100 million previously withdrawn from the SUG account. The suspended President was also accused of persistently pressuring the Speaker to authorize the withdrawal of an extra ₦40 million (SUG budget) and ₦57 million (SUG project funds), in violation of the Union’s constitution and financial accountability standards.
