A final-year Business Education student of Kwara State University, Idris Aremu Agboluaje, died in a road accident after speeding to retrieve his ID card when he was barred from an exam hall, sparking campus-wide mourning and calls to review exam protocols.
A tragic incident occurred at Kwara State University (KWASU), where 400-level Business Education student Idris Aremu Agboluaje died in a road accident while rushing to write his first-semester final-year examination.
Eyewitnesses said Agboluaje was barred from entering the exam hall because he couldn’t present his student ID card. He attempted to return to retrieve it, driving at high speed, but was involved in a fatal crash.
The Association of Business Educators of Nigeria (ABEN), KWASU Chapter, expressed deep sorrow, calling it a “painful loss” to the department. “Our hearts go out to his parents, family members, friends, and classmates,” they stated.
The incident sparked discussions on balancing exam protocols with student safety. Colmates described Agboluaje as dedicated, cut short on completing his academic milestone.
As of reporting, KWASU management hadn’t issued an official statement confirming the incident. Students called for measures preventing similar occurrences.
