A UNICROSS student who rejected a viral campus proposal has clarified that the man was only her friend, never dated her, and did not sponsor her education.
A female student of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has finally spoken up after a video showing her rejecting a public marriage proposal on campus went viral on social media.
The student, popularly known online as Angelgrey TV, became a trending topic after a clip circulated showing a man proposing to her in front of other students, only for her to turn him down publicly.
Following the reactions and assumptions that flooded social media, the young woman decided to clarify what really happened.
According to her, the man who proposed is simply her friend and they have never been in a romantic relationship. She emphasized that many of the claims being spread online are false.
She explained that at no time did they date, contrary to the narrative many people created after the video surfaced. She also firmly denied allegations that the man financed her education or supported her financially while she was in school.
The student further revealed that the proposal came as a complete surprise to her. She said the man showed up on campus on her birthday with an engagement ring and organized the public proposal without informing her beforehand.
Because there had never been any conversation about marriage between them, she said the moment was shocking and unexpected, leaving her with no choice but to reject the proposal publicly.
She admitted that the situation was embarrassing, especially since it happened in front of many people and later spread widely across social media platforms.
The UNICROSS student also disclosed that she is currently seeking an opportunity to appear on a media platform where she can fully explain the incident and share her side of the story in detail.
She concluded by urging the public not to believe rumors that the man sponsored her education, insisting that the information circulating online is inaccurate and misleading.
