Olushola Dehinsilu, a brilliant Nigerian man who became the first student in 41 years to graduate with a first-class degree in Mathematics from Olabisi Onabanjo University, has won a PhD scholarship at the University of Texas at Arlington after two years of rejections.


A Nigerian scholar, Olushola Dehinsilu, made history by breaking a 41-year-old record at Olabisi Onabanjo University, becoming the first student to graduate with a first-class degree in Mathematics since the institution’s inception in 1982.
Olushola’s remarkable achievement earned him a prestigious PhD scholarship in Mathematics at the University of Texas at Arlington, USA. Following his graduation in 2021, he completed his national service as an assistant lecturer at The Polytechnic Ibadan and later secured a position as a Graduate Assistant at his alma mater, where he balanced teaching responsibilities with personal development.
In pursuit of further academic success, Olushola obtained his Master’s degree in Mathematics from the same university, and after facing rejections for two years, he was finally awarded a scholarship to pursue his PhD in the United States.
