UI Honors Seven Outstanding Lecturers, 33 Students at Award Ceremony

The Faculty of Education at the University of Ibadan held its second annual Dean’s Prize and Award Ceremony, recognizing 33 students for academic excellence and seven lecturers for their outstanding contributions, to inspire continued excellence within the faculty.

The Faculty of Education at the University of Ibadan recently honored 33 students for their academic excellence and seven lecturers for their exceptional contributions.

The event, attended by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, former Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka, as well as deans and heads of departments from other faculties, showcased the purpose of the faculty’s annual Dean’s Prize and Award Ceremony.

Held on Friday, the second edition of the Dean’s Prize and Award Ceremony celebrated achievements within the faculty.

Speaking at the event, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Olufemi Adegbesan, explained that the initiative aims to motivate both students and lecturers.

He stated, “Today marks the second edition of the Dean’s Prize and Award Ceremony, a significant event. Thirty-three students from eleven programs received prizes and certificates for their outstanding academic performance at various levels. Each student was awarded N50,000 along with a certificate.”

“We also presented a special award to the best student in one of the courses taught within the faculty. Outstanding lecturers, ranging from assistant lecturers to senior lecturers, were also recognized, with one lecturer being awarded the prize for the most outstanding performance. We are grateful that the program was successful.”

He added, “This initiative is designed to inspire our students and academic colleagues to excel in their endeavors. Seven lecturers received awards, with one earning the title of the most outstanding lecturer.”

One of the recognized students, Oyindasola Adams, praised the faculty for the initiative and encouraged her peers to strive for excellence.

Adams, a 400-level student of Educational Management, expressed her joy, saying, “I am very happy; this is a reward for academic excellence. After working very hard, I am glad to see that hard work is recognized.”

She encouraged others, saying, “Everyone should put in the effort; one day it will pay off. Strive for academic excellence—school is not a scam.”
