A former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has applauded Ismail Abubakar Muhammad for emerging as the Best Graduating Student at Bayero University, Kano. The recognition follows Muhammad’s exceptional academic performance across multiple disciplines.
According to Ahmad, Muhammad distinguished himself remarkably by finishing top in Biochemistry, Medicine, and Surgery—an achievement described as rare and outstanding. Sharing the news on his social media platform on April 29, 2026, he congratulated the graduate and praised his dedication and hard work.
The accomplishment sparked reactions from Nigerians, many of whom commended Muhammad’s brilliance and consistency. Some also highlighted a family legacy of excellence, noting that his brother had previously earned a similar distinction at the same university.
In a separate development, Bayero University Kano recently expelled over 170 students after investigations into misconduct by the institution’s Senate committee. The disciplinary action affected students across various departments and levels, serving as a warning against academic violations. Additionally, another student was expelled following an examination-related offense.
Meanwhile, the university has also launched an investigation into a student accused of impersonation and online fraud. Authorities confirmed that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken if the allegations are proven.
Overall, Muhammad’s achievement stands out as a symbol of academic excellence, drawing widespread admiration while highlighting both the rewards of hard work and the importance of discipline within the university system.
